If you are a member of VetRelief.com and have worked at hospitals over the months or years there is a convenient and easy way to stay in touch by posting memos and letting them hear from you.
Login at VetRelief.com -> Bids and Schedule -> View Past Schedule -> enter date range -> click on the Bid id # hyperlink (opens in a new window) and create and send a new memo. Copy and paste your memo if you are contacting more than one hospital.
Here's an example:
Dear Practice Owner/ Practice Manager:
I wanted to check in with you to let you know I am available for relief work.
I enjoyed working at your practice, and if you need shifts covered, I would be glad to help.
You can reach me through vetrelief.com or on my cell phone at XXX-XXX-XXXX..

Relief Work and the Great recession:
The recession has obviously impacted available relief work and the price structure for stipends paid to relief veterinarians for their subcontracted work. This is as it should be. Demand/supply worked in favor of relief veterinary work last year, and this year practice owners can choose among numerous bids.
In life and in the work place, persistence pays off, and sensitivity for the economic realities of the practice owner is appropriate. I shall remain flexible regarding the needs of practice owners, and I have ultimate faith that an optimistic attitude and good work will provide the reward of a busy work schedule for me and the opportunity to meet veterinarians and staff throughout the state.
As economic conditions improve, the demand/supply curve will once again provide a better return for hours spent in relief veterinary work, and the meaning for me is a little more time to be spent with family and friends.
